Show of Strength for Paid Sick Days in LA

News

Los Angeles Paid Sick Days activists and street vendors collaborated on a musical joint action at City Hall October 27, calling for a “healthy Los Angeles for all working families.” At noon, rap musicians, horn players, singers and activists with acoustic guitars turned the rally into a concert called “Songs for Sick Days” as workers prepared to go into City Hall to speak to Council members.

Passing a strong paid sick days law and legalizing street vending would impact the economic security of hundreds of thousands of Los Angeles workers and their families. The Raise the Wage LA Coalition, the statewide California Work & Family Coalition, ROC LA, ACCE, ACLU So Cal and Family Caregivers are organizing their constituencies to move the City Council to pass a strong paid sick days law by the end of the year.
