Where's the beef?
On July 1, 2009 New Jersey became the second state in the nation to provide family leave insurance benefits for its working families. Under the new program, workers are able to draw partial wages (two-thirds of weekly wages up to a maximum of $546) when they take the time to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond with a newborn or newly adopted child. Information about the program and how to access benefits is available on the NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s web site at http://lwd.dol.state.nj.us/labor/fli/fliindex.html. This program is a big step forward for New Jersey in helping working families balance work and family responsibilities, and we are proud of the work the New Jersey Time to Care Coalition did to make it happen.
