NC: North Carolina MomsRising

North Carolina MomsRising is the first state chapter of MomsRising.org, working to bring together millions of people who want a more family-friendly America. Beginning in 2007, local members began connecting and organizing around MomsRising’s national policy priorities. The local energy soon translated to the launch of a chapter that’s been instrumental in advancing a number of MomsRising’s priorities within North Carolina.  With over 22,000 members in all 100 counties of the state, North Carolina MomsRising has launched thousands of emails, co-hosted trainings, and spearheaded many a press conference for the NC Families Care Campaign.

WA: Legal Voice

Legal Voice secures and protects women’s legal rights. The organization makes substantive, lasting changes to improve the lives of women through legislation, self-help resources and litigation. Legal Voice has been a key partner in the Washington Family Leave Coalition and the Seattle paid sick days campaign, helping to draft legislation and analyze the potential impacts of policy proposals on women’s lives.

NY: The Women of Color Policy Network

The Women of Color Policy Network conducts research and collects data on policies impacting women of color in the areas of employment, poverty, welfare, incarceration and health. They use their data to educate community-based groups to hold policy-makers more accountable as well as work with policy-makers to provide them with data to improve their decision-making. They have made passage of the Paid Sick Time bill a top priority and have hosted a policy forum on “Quality Jobs in A New Economy: Paid Sick Leave in Communities of Color”.
