Cherita Ellens is the President & CEO of Women Employed, an organization that, for nearly 50 years, has been dedicated to establishing equity for women in the workforce through affecting policy change, expanding access to educational opportunities, and advocating for fair and inclusive workplaces. From the No Salary History law and protection from workplace harassment, to paid sick time and fair scheduling, Women Employed has been at the forefront of advocating for policies that improve the economic status for women, empowering them to support themselves and their families. Cherita is currently leading the organization’s new strategic plan focused on growing the economic power of women and closing the wealth gap at the intersection of race and gender. Cherita is a proud mom of a recent Vanderbilt University grad who will be attending the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice in the fall. Cherita is a caregiver to her mother who lives with her, and a grandmother to a pittie named Pepsi.
