Jennifer Morales

Jennifer grew up in a political, working-class, union home and learned at an early age what it takes for working families to thrive—namely, collective action and policy change. She’s spent much of her life working on behalf of children, as a parent, activist, and foster parent. The well-being of children is a huge reason she’s motivated to win paid family and medical leave and earned sick and safe days. She lived in Milwaukee for over 20 years and served as that city’s first elected Latinx school board member. She’s also been a doula, a Sunday School teacher, a bookstore owner, and an editor. A devoted fiction writer and poet, her first book, Meet Me Halfway: Milwaukee Stories, was published by the University of Wisconsin Press in 2015. She lives in rural Wisconsin and is the director of Movement Learning & Culture Change at FV@W.
