Following considerable political maneuvering, House Republicans have advanced legislation to solidify the largest infusion of wealth to billionaires in our lifetime. Despite a narrow majority and public disapproval, they passed the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.”

This is not merely a budget: it is a blueprint for perpetuating the Oppression Economy. We will provide a breakdown of the bill’s major tax cuts, program cuts and non-budgetary provisions, and projected impacts. We’ll also walk through what’s ahead in this legislative process.

We and our partners will also use this briefing to underscore why centering racial justice and grassroots leadership is essential for bringing more people into this work and advancing equitable tax reform—especially in tougher political environments where tax policy has failed our communities. In addition to sharing what our partners are doing to expand the conversation. We will also use this moment to equip partners with new, research-backed, actionable framing for the tax discussion, utilizing narrative intervention strategies developed from new messaging research from the FrameWorks Institute and Liberation in a Generation.
