Leslie Garvin is the Executive Director of North Carolina Campus Engagement, a collaborative network of 40 colleges and universities committed to preparing students for civic and social responsibility, to partnering with communities for positive change, and to strengthening democracy. She is a frequent speaker on topics related to higher education community and civic engagement, democracy, and civil discourse and dialogue.
Leslie is a dialogue and deliberation facilitator and trainer and a Collaborative Discussion Coach. She serves on the Board of the National Issues Forum and You Can Vote. She also serves on the National Advisory Committee of the Carnegie Community Engagement Elective Classification and on the Advisory Board of guides.vote. She is a member of the NC Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service and serves as the North Carolina state representative for the Braver Angels Braver Network.
She holds a Master of Social Work with a concentration in social and economic development and a specialization in management, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and African & African-American Studies, both from Washington University in St. Louis. She is a former UC National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement Fellow, White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow, and a proud AmeriCorps alum.
