FV@W Caring Out Loud Fellows have released a new story as part of We Are Down Home’s Front Porch Series, highlighting the voices, faces, and communities of rural North Carolina and the ways public policy shapes daily life. In this installment, we meet Tykayla Livingston, who shares a powerful reflection on what it means to make ends meet as a working family. Her story underscores a familiar reality: every dollar has a destination, especially in systems that too often fall short of meeting people’s needs. Through storytelling, our fellows continue to elevate lived experiences and bring visibility to the real-life impact of policy decisions in communities across the country. Watch the 5-minute video below and read the Substack post.
