MILWAUKEE, Nov. 3, 2026—Yesterday’s elections remind us that democracy is a pathway to the life families need to thrive. As newly elected leaders prepare to take office, families across the country are looking for more than promises. They expect action.
Over and over again, we saw care win at the ballot box yesterday. From state houses to D.C., voters choose candidates committed to addressing the needs of a nation with 130 million caregivers, where 10,000 people turn 65 each day, and one in four adults enter the sandwich generation, caring for both children and aging parents. Their priorities include paid leave, earned sick time, affordable child care, and a health care system that works for everyone. It’s no surprise that this message resonated: care is not partisan.
We urge elected officials to deliver strong, equitable care policies that reflect the needs and priorities of America’s families, workers, and small businesses.
We look forward to working with newly elected and returning officials across our network states to advance paid leave and other care policies.
Now is the time to turn public need for care into lasting progress.
