Our Partners

ME: Maine People’s Alliance

With over 32,000 members, Maine People’s Alliance is the largest community action group in Maine.  We work to advance economic justice for all Mainers, and believe an explicit focus on racial justice to be a key strategy to achieve that goal.  As members of the Working Families Coalition, we are proud to support the passage of paid sick days in Maine.

WI: Campaign Against Violence – The League of Young Voters

The League of Young Voters empowers young people in Milwaukee to participate in the democratic process and create progressive political change on the local, state and national level – with a focus on non-college youth and youth from low-income communities and communities of color.  The League was able to make political engagement relevant by meeting young people where they are, working on issues that affect their lives like paid sick days, and providing them with tools, training, and support to become serious catalysts for change in their communities. Young people in Milwaukee gathered signatures and got out the vote for paid sick days in 2008.

OR: Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon

The Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO) is a community-driven, statewide advocacy and civic engagement group working to address the root causes of inequities that impact our community.  APANO brings together diverse communities to tell their story, build leadership, and work for change.  Their mission is to create an alliance that can mobilize the social, cultural and political strengths of Asian and Pacific Islander communities of Oregon to promote self-sufficiency in order to reach their full potential.
