Recognizing National Family Caregivers Month

Media Center

caregiver-and-familyIn recognition of National Family Caregivers Month in November, the broad-based coalition of organizations pushing for the Family And Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act are rallying online to call attention to family caregivers’ need for supportive workplace polices like the national paid family and medical leave program the FAMILY Act would establish. The effort is being hosted by Family Values @ Work, MomsRising and the National Partnership for Women and Families.

Check out these great blog posts from FAMILY Act coalition partners:

    • Caring Across Generations: Why working caregivers need paid leave “These family caregivers, day in and day out, do the incredibly important but undervalued work of caring for aging loved ones or people with disabilities, often with little support… Passing the FAMILY Act would go a long way towards supporting the millions of caregivers who do the important work of caring for their loved ones.”
    • Family Values @ Work: Paid Sick Days Needs to Cover Everyone “The business owners who are partners in our coalitions say they offer paid sick days because it’s the smart as well as the right thing to do – saving them money on turnover, boosting productivity and improving quality.”
