We are all born to give and receive care, yet many of us don’t see ourselves as givers or receivers of care. In the US, there are significant barriers to getting and giving the care that we and our loved ones need. Seeds & Harvests shines a light on how our daily lives are caught in a care economy that’s not actually designed for care. This curriculum guides learners through individual and collective visioning of the future we need and offers an opportunity to become an activist in shared work required to get us there.
In “SEEDS”, lessons will help learners recognize themselves as givers and receivers of care, articulate what’s working and not working in their care lives, and plant seeds for the collective visioning and commitment to action found in Module 4.
“GROUND” defines “care economy” and other key concepts, help learners notice where it shows up in our lives, and delve into the historic roots that created our current care economy and continue to affect us every day.
“TOOLS” guides learners through a power analysis of our current care economy, including who benefits from it and what levers of influence we have to change it.
In “HARVESTS”, learners orient themselves toward action and the future, learning about how organizers think, taking inspiration from other movements, engaging in collective visioning of the world we want, and making commitments to themselves and each other.
