Carol Joyner

Director, Labor Project

Carol began working at the cross-section of work and family policy and labor in 1992 when she founded the 1199SEIU-Employer Childcare Fund. Linking the childcare needs of hospital workers with that of NY based health facilities, this collectively bargained trust fund covered 450 health facilities including childcare committees at each. The realities of work and family were made real when during this same time, Carol married, had two children and cared for her elderly parents. Subsequently, Carol moved to DC where she consulted with labor unions, non-profits, and trust funds eventually launching the national office of the Labor Project for Working Families (LPWF), which resulted in her joining the FV@W board. Currently Carol is on staff at FV@W in partnership with LPWF. She lives in DC with her partner and grown children, and enjoys traveling, yoga, reading, and local politics.
