Kendall started as a Sierra Club communications intern while still studying Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University. At the Sierra Club, she engaged in the intersectional fight for climate and economic justice, and she used storytelling to shine the light on systemic corruption in our government and lobbying. Kendall was deeply inspired by the power of grassroots activism. After graduating, she worked on several electoral campaigns as a youth vote organizer and digital storyteller. Over the last year, the fight for paid time to care became personal when Kendall’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a result, her mother, a teacher for more than 20 years, had to take unpaid FMLA and use all of her sick days. Kendall frequently drove from Richmond to Charlottesville to care for her mother. Kendall uses her creativity and storytelling to share FV@W’s commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice. She is excited to expand FV@W’s reach on social media and through partnering with organizations aligned with our values. When Kendall is not online, she spends time with her dog Cheese, enjoys laughing with her friends, and loves to take long walks listening to podcasts.
