When Marie applied for an internship at the American Association of University Women – where her grandmother volunteered for 40 years – she could not have imagined how the nonprofit world would shape her. She would spend the next decade working in nonprofit digital communications and strategic communications, while growing as an organizer for worker’s rights and reproductive justice.
Her experiences and learning culminated in her prioritization of building loving community wherever she is. Of course, caregiving is central to a health community and Marie views caregiving as a central part of her work as an executive assistant at Family Values @ Work, where she supports leaders who are building a workplace culture and nonprofit network that is grounded in intersectionality and power building. She is an alumna of University of Maryland, College Park, and currently resides in Santa Fe, NM with her fun fiancé, Karlie, and fluffy feline, Marlow.
