Preston Van Vliet (he/him/his)

Leading State Policy Organizer

As a young, lonely queer, Preston (he/him/his) first found purpose in organizing with other LGBTQI students after the death of a young gay man on their campus. Preston listened to older queer folks of color who emphasized leveraging his white privilege and coalition-building with different communities in order to achieve change. He’s a caregiver and care-receiver within his chosen families. Preston believes in building an interdependent and international solidarity that fosters healing spaces with and reparations for Black and Indigenous folks and other communities of color; that is accessible to all disabilities and all languages; that upholds indigenous and Tribal sovereignty; and that supports the autonomy of people who inject drugs, engage with sex work, or who are part of other criminalized economies. He’s a step-dad to the weirdest and sweetest kid.
