Roshunda – FMLA Leaves Siblings Like Mine with No Support

My brother was seriously ill and was going to have to go out of town for medical treatment. I informed my boss that I would have to be off. He informed me that siblings were not covered under FMLA unless they are under 18 or physically or mentally disabled. My mom is elderly and has medical problems and my other sibling is disabled. The brother who was ill has no wife or kids. I was the next closest immediate family member. I felt forced to choose between my job and my family.
