Luisa – I Had To Choose Between a Paycheck and Our Health

I took my six-month-old daughter to the emergency room because she had a fever of 102. She got tested for COVID-19 and it came back positive. I had taken my test on the first day of 2022 and my test came back positive. I had told my job that I needed to stay home to quarantine with my child, but I was not allowed to get family paid sick time. So I had to choose my paycheck or my health or my child’s health. Virginia needs paid family and medical time off and sick time off.
