Taxpayers are Not Protected by the American Economy

Press Releases

Every year, on April 15th taxpayers are reminded that our economy is not built for the average worker to thrive. While workers must reconcile taxes paid over the previous year down to the penny, big corporations skip taxes altogether and, in fact, get tax breaks. It’s unfair, inequitable, and not sustainable for this nation’s workers.

What we need is an economy that protects workers, their families, and incomes. We need a social safety net that supports workers with policies like paid family and medical leave, paid sick and safe days, and high-quality, affordable child care. We need legislators whose priorities align with the needs of their constituents. We need tax justice.

This glaring need is why Family Values @ Work established our Tax and Revenue Organizing program to galvanize public support for progressive tax policies that will sustain and expand our nation’s care infrastructure. We join voters everywhere in advocating for tax policies that promote economic equity and support comprehensive care programs.

The days of our government enriching the wealthy at the expense of the poor must end. Billion-dollar companies and billionaires must pay their fair share. Together, we are building capacity, fostering collaboration, and driving public engagement through targeted educational campaigns and advocacy efforts.
